KEN & SANDRA JONES PREPARE TO RETURN TO CHINA

Just when we thought our working visits to China were ended, we received a ‘call’ a little over a month ago.

International China Concern’s Foreign Team Coordinators, Justin and Lisa Anemaat are due, this winter, to take a well earned break back in Australia.  Their normal furlough will be extended to a five month sabbatical commencing in November 2008.

Our ‘call’ from the Lord via Lisa was to cover for them for this period,

Your role, if you are able would be to look after the pastoral care side. Leading team meetings, Sunday meetings and Tuesday am Prayer meetings. We believe that the team would greatly benefit from your input and life experience and there would also be opportunity for Sandra to work with Bruce Regier as he is currently assessing the social welfare of our ICC children and providing input on how we can improve in this area. Your extensive experience in this field and experiences both in China and with ICC I am sure would be a huge asset to him as he develops the work in this area”.

It sounds a bit like ‘Mission Impossible’

Our first response to the Lord was “We can’t do this, especially having to live and work through a Chinese winter”.

We shared the news with our Cell group and with the Missions prayer meeting regulars, and waited on the Lord.

Then along came Peter Anderson who spoke on Fathers’ Day from Matthew 21: 28 - 32, with the call of the father, “Go and work today in the vineyard”.

We felt this was a word from the Lord to us. We had said “No” at first, but now we know we are to go back to Changsha come what may.

We have offered ICC a three month period – from January – March 2009 and are in the early stages of preparation. Please hold us before the Lord in this, there are many things to be thought and prayed through over the coming months.

We have confidence in the Lord’s hand upon CLM Fellowship members our ‘Prayer-holders’, ‘Share-holders’ and ‘Care-holders’.
