You're not asked to pray, sing, or read aloud, and you can ask any question you like. Or, if you prefer, you can come along and simply listen. The free course takes place once a week for eleven weeks. Each session begins with a meal, which is followed by discussion, study, questions and a short DVD of about 15 minutes. If you would like to participate in this course contact our Church Administrator.
Membership is open and anyone may come and enjoy a meal. Approximately 65 people attend each Wednesday at 12.30 pm. Most of the participants are of pensionable age but any adult is welcome. Lunch begins with a welcome, then the meal, which is followed by a short thought for the day. Lifts are provided for those who have mobility or transport difficulties - if you need a lift, please contact Beryl or Sandra. On Wednesday afternoon at 2:15 pm there is a ladies’ meeting. This is called the Band of Cheer. This name has been in use for approximately 100 years. Throughout that time the basic purpose of the meeting has remained the same - to offer women fellowship and encouragement in their Christian walk. The content of the meeting is generally prayer, traditional choruses and a speaker. Most of the members are mature women but all women are sure of a welcome. Music practice, in preparation for Sunday worship, takes place on a Thursday evening. If you are a musician or singer attending Cottage Lane Mission, you are welcome to come and join in the practice. Coming to the practice does not mean that you are required to, or are approved to, help lead the congregation during worship on a Sunday. The Music Director, Brian Rawsthorne, will be able to give you further information. There are two groups, one meeting on Friday morning from 10.00 am to 12 noon and the other on Friday afternoon from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm. These groups are open to any parent, or carer, who wishes to bring a pre-school age child or children to one of the groups. The groups offer friendship and support and the opportunity for children to play with others in a protected environment. Tea, coffee and informal friendly chat feature in these groups. On the first Friday each month there is a Ladies' Meeting from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm. This is an infromal time of fellowship with craft actvivites. Women of all ages are welcome. The Men's Group meets once a month for social, spiritual and recreational activites. Contact the church adminstrator to find out any more about these groups.
